This change log only contains changes to files on your computer, Alt1 apps are updated separately and don't require an update to Alt1 itself.

Since this is a new update some antiviruses might give you a warning. Especially if you're using AVG/Avast, make sure it is not set to 'Automatic repair', this mode will delete files at random.

Updates

• Added a setting to delay Alt1 updates until after antiviruses have updated.
  • Most antiviruses take 1-2 days to update their detections, however with AVG/Avast this can take up to 3 months. This option minimizes problems with these antiviruses deleting Alt1 files without telling you.
  • Enabled automatically when AVG or Avast is detected. (Your antivirus is making your computer less secure!)
  • In the future there might also be a beta track to test updates before release.
• Finally tracked down a bug that would cause Alt1 to become partially unresponsive after waking your computer from sleep.
• Added a work-around for the infamous NVIDIA image sharpening and softening filters. Alt1 will now accurately capture the game even if those settings are enabled.
• Updated the built-in chromium browser to version 108.

Changes

• Alt1 now always runs as 64bit application.
• Alt1 now requires .NET framework 4.6 (up from 4.5.2). This should already be installed on windows 8/10/11.
• Apps can no longer capture your screen outside of the RuneScape window.
  • This feature is currently only used by the Comp cape color grabber app.
• Starting a second instance of Alt1 now gives you an option to kill the old instance in case it has frozen.
• Added support for headless install (makes it technically possible to install through winget - not yet implemented)
• There is now a button in settings->advanced to show the internal Alt1 console.
  • This console shows errors that happen inside Alt1 but don't result in a crash.
  • This is useful for debugging issues with appconfigs and alt1:// urls.
  • Also added and updated messages for many other issues.

Fixes

• Fixed several memory leaks.
• Alt1 will no longer show an error about admin mode when the rs client freezes.
• Alt1 will now automatically detect the RuneScape client in compatibility mode as well.
• Fixed an issue interface skins not showing up in supported apps.

• Fixed a memory leak with rightclick detection. You can now turn on rightclick detection again in the settings if you've previously turned it off.
• Fixed a very rare bug that was causing the game to freeze on custom cursors until hard reboot.

New apps

• Added an ability tracker app.
  • This app shows the expected damage for abilities that you use independent of rng or gear.
  • Shows a running average of your last 20 seconds expressed in 5 minute dummy score.
  • There is a special streamer mode to add this information on an overlay on twitch.
  • Make sure you have cooldown numbers enabled in the rs display settings.
• Added a simple Angel of Death app.
  • Shows the kill order of the minions.
  • You can find this in the utility folder.

Main changes

• Fixed Alt1 freezing when changing your desktop background (and other settings) after closing an rs client at least once.
• Fixed alt+2 screen capture for people where it wasn't working.
• Open apps on the toolbar are now fully independant of apps on a different client. This means that you no longer have to right-click to open the same app on multiple clients.
• Added stupidly fast subimage search that utilizes specialized processor features (SSE/AVX). This will make existing apps faster and enable new features in apps that were previously too slow.

Other fixes

• Fixed possible (rare) crash while closing rs.
• Fixed the Alt1 icon not showing the correct number of linked clients.
• A small version of the Alt1 toolbar will now show up in windowed fullscreen mode
• Fixed apps scaling to the wrong resolution. (hopefully for everyone this time)
• The app close button and other buttons weren't visible for some people.
• Cleaned up more multiclient weirdness.
• Pinned/recent app icons on the toolbar no longer get misaligned after clicking them.
• FOUND THE OTHER STUPID FREEZE BUG. This one was happening since day one. Thx microsoft.

Multiclient support and threading

• Alt1 will now automatically add toolbars when multiple rs clients are opened, also rewrote a lot of logic with what apps are owned by what rs client.
• Improved responsiveness by separating different components (into threads).
• This fixes problems with app saved data that occurred since last update since you no longer need multiple instances of Alt1.
• Overlays will no longer show above other windows when tabbing out.

Fixes

• Fixed sounds not playing in apps.
• The alt+3 topmost checkbox now actually works! You can use it to make any window you want stay visible on top of others.
• Fixed alt+3 thumbnail window positioning.
• Fixed Alt1 not opening on a fresh install of windows 8.1.
• Attempted fix for screenshot capture. (I was not able to reproduce this so this is mostly a guess)
• The crash window will now also show if the crash happens at the very start.
• Display scaling will no longer be applied twice to apps. There is a toggle in advanced settings to revert this in case it doesn't work on your system.
• This update force-creates shortcuts that had gone missing with the last update for some people.
• Many more fixes.

News, apps and folders

Apps are now organized in folders. This way you can install more apps without it becoming a clutter. With this update a some of the smaller specialized apps have been added to the default installation.

• Finally added the bank tab pricechecker app to the default config.
• Added an app for ceremonial sword smithing
• Added an app for Nemi Forest hunting (credit to /r/NemiForest)
• Added an app that shows current portables locations and worlds (credit to portables fc)
• Added a solver for the Runedoku puzzle. (great rune source for ironman)
• Added a tool for dialog and lore book transcription.

Ping and world display on toolbar

Alt1 can now display your ping and world on the toolbar next to the already existing fps display. This way you no longer need to open the in-game developer console to find your ping, the world display should also be very convenient. Right click the toolbar to toggle these.

Updated the built-in browser (Netflix!)

The built-in browser was getting fairly old and has been updated to chromium 69 (open-source version of chrome). This update also brings support for new video codecs. This means that Netflix and other video websites should run again inside Alt1!

Other Features

• Rewrote the news/messages system. This is used to display notifications about updates that don't require a global Alt1 update.
• The new message system also supports minor configuration changes without having to update Alt1. For example, new apps can be added now without need for a full update.
• Apps with the gamestate permission can now see your current ping, world, fps and when you last hopped worlds (for farming timers).
• Added support for high bandwidth asynchronous capture. This fixes afkwarden toilet mode. (You can now view Runescape and get afk notifications on your phone)
• Improved capture mode autodetection. It will no longer select DirectX when it's broken and it will no longer switch away from a working capture method.
• Probably a lot more. This update has been brewing for over a year.

• Apps will once again be hidden behind right click menu's in-game.
• Fixed a crash when pressing alt+2 while already selecting a screenshot area.
• Fixed some characters not getting red correctly by image recognition.
• Fixed some crashes when trying to use apps that are still loading.

Other

• The app specific settings window now scales correctly when resized.
• Error messages should now always be English, even if your computer is set to a different language. Some known crashes will now also display more information in the crash window.
• Improved navigation through Alt1 menus using the keyboard.
• Improved screen capture performance and apps no longer stutter when waiting for capture.
• The target window dropdown now also lists the process name next to the title of the window.
• App activator phrases are now split between app configured and custom. App configured activators can now only be disabled instead of removed.
• Fixed a crash on startup in 32bit windows. Hopefully didn't break it in 64bit for people with some corrupted .NET installations.

Development

In the last months I've been working on an overhaul on how apps themselves are written. This involves rewriting lots of code and should make developing Alt1 apps more accessible for third party developers. I'm in the process of releasing several npm packages.
