no sound from alerts

Kind of just randomly happened because it was working but I can't get any sounds from alerts (either scheduled or from selecting them in the drop down). I think sound might not be working in the entire alt1 program. Been looking through my sound settings and other things and can't figure out what's wrong. I don't think I changed anything when it stopped working. Sound works on runescape and the rest of my computer just fine. Any ideas?
