I try automatic and manual modes and 98% of the time it doesn't register the clue on screen.
I've reinstalled, restarted and even added the game to NVIDIA 3D Settings.
If it works at certain times it's rare and it should work all the time! There isn't any program settings left to change for this to work within Alt1.
What is the problem with Alt1? I want this fixed so it automatically solves the clue the moment the clue is opened and not tell me "Cannot find etc" or "check your settings".

Hard to tell without seeing more of your screen, but it could also be a sharpening issue (see this thread as a recent example).
